NEET UG 2026 AIQ vs State Quota Counselling

The NEET UG Counselling 2026 is an admission process through which eligible candidates may secure a seat in MBBS, BDS, AYUSH (by AACCC), Nursing, and other medical courses across India. The seat allocation is purely based on NEET All India Rank, category, state domicile, and the candidate’s preference. There are two types of counselling as mentioned below.

01. All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling: It is open for all candidates from all states and covers 15% AIQ seats in government medical colleges such as AIIMS, JIPMER, Central Universities, and Deemed Universities.

02. State Quota Counselling: It requires domicile eligibility, conducted by the state’s counselling authority. It covers 85% state quota government seats as well as private colleges in that state.

The NEET UG Counselling is an online process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) after the announcement of the NEET Result. This year, the MCC Counselling for NEET UG will take place in July 2026. However, no official dates for the counselling have been released, but they will be updated soon.   First and foremost, check your NEET 2026 result, which is typically released in the form of the NEET Scorecard, NEET AIR, NEET Category-wise Rank, and NEET Qualifying Cutoff, as only qualifying candidates are eligible to participate in the counselling process.

  Visit the official website for counselling registration as follows
  For AIQ, visit the MCC website, i.e. mcc.nic.in

• 03. Click on “New Registration” & enter your NEET 2026 details
  After this, click on the link available for “UG Medical Counselling”. You have to register yourself with your NEET UG 2026 details, such as exam roll number, application number, date of birth, and security pin.
• 04. Create Login Credentials
  Once registered, create your username and password. Also, register your mobile number and email address for OTP verification.
• 05. Log in to the MCC Dashboard
  Use your login credentials, such as your username and password, to log in. Your profile will be generated automatically once logged in.
• 06. Fill Personal Details
  Fill in basic personal details like name, category, domicile, etc. Your NEET 2026 score and rank will be automatically populated from NTA records.
• 07. Registration Fee Payment
  Pay the registration fee using UPI/ Net Banking/ Credit or Debit card, which is not refundable once paid. The security deposit is refundable if no seat is allotted; conditions apply as per MCC guidelines.
• 08. Confirmation Slip
  Once registration is completed, download the confirmation page and keep it safe until the counselling is completed.

NEET UG Counselling 2026 Choice Filling and Locking Process

Once the NEET UG 2026 counselling registration is completed, follow the steps below for the NEET UG 2026 choice filling and locking process. You should make a NEET 2026 choice filling strategy and give priority to the most preferred medical college. 

01. Log in to the MCC portal

Once logged into the MCC dashboard, navigate to the ‘Choice Filling & Locking’ section

Once logged in to the dashboard, click on the “Choice Filling & Locking” section, where the MBBS/ BDS course option will appear. There are no limits, so fill in as many choices as possible.

03. Select College & Course

Browse available colleges and click on “Add” or the “+ button” to select government/ private/ deemed universities (if applicable). There are no limits, so fill in as many choices as possible.

04. Arrange Preferences

It is very important to drag and arrange choices in priority order, like the top government MBBS college, then other government colleges, and then private colleges. Your most preferred college should always appear first, regardless of whether it is a reach option.

05. Review Your List

Carefully review the college name, order of preference and enough backup options. You can edit the details at any time before locking. The system will not finalise until you lock.

06. Choice Locking

It is the final step to lock in your preferred choice. After locking, choices become final, and no editing is allowed.

07. Download Locked Choices

Documents Required for NEET UG 2026 Counselling

The following documents are compulsory at the time of MCC counselling registration. The documents should be original and uploaded in the proper format and size as per the MCC and NTA guidelines.

• NTA-issued NEET 2026 exam admit card (hard copy)
• NEET 2026 exam result certificate
• 8 passport-size photographs (similar to the NEET application form)
• Provisional allotment letter generated online for NEET counselling.
