The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the CBSE 12th Compartment Exam Date 2026 for students who have enrolled to attend the exam. The submission of the Class 12 List of Candidates (LOC) for the supplementary exam form for the session 2025-26 was completed between June 30 and July 8, 2026. As per the CBSE official report, 1,63,800 students were placed in the compartment category and will be eligible to appear in the supplementary exam.
According to the CBSE official notification released on June 30, 2026, the CBSE 12th Supplementary exam will be held on 28 July 2026, in a single day for all subjects. Students who enrolled for this exam can now check the complete CBSE 12th Supplementary Exam Schedule 2026 and prepare for the exam accordingly. The compartment exam will be conducted in two time slots, i.e., 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM and 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The 3-hour slot (10:30 AM – 1:30 PM) applies to academic subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and Economics, while the 2-hour slot (10:30 AM – 12:30 PM) covers skill and practical-based subjects such as Music, Painting, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science. The pattern and syllabus for the CBSE 12th Compartment Exam 2026 will remain the same as the main exam.

Who is eligible for the CBSE Class 12th Supplementary Exam 2026?
If you are placed in the ‘compartment category’ after failing exactly one subject in the class 12th main board exam, you will be eligible. To check whether you are eligible or not for the CBSE 12th compartment exam, you can go through the points below.
- Regular students who appeared in the board’s examination 2026 through schools affiliated to the board and were declared as ‘compartment’ are eligible to apply in one subject in which students are placed in the compartment.
- Regular students who appeared in the board’s examination 2026 and were placed in ‘compartment’ in two subjects are eligible to apply in any one of the two subjects which are placed in the compartment category.
- Regular students who appeared in 6 subjects in the Board’s examination 2026 and were declared ‘PASS’ but could not clear one subject can appear in the failed subject under the ‘Improvement of the performance category’ only in the subjects whose examination will be conducted.

Minimum Passing Criteria for CBSE 12th Compartment Exam 2026
Students will have to obtain at least 33% marks in each subject to pass the exam. The overall passing criteria will also be 33%. For more details, you can check the following points.
- The overall minimum passing mark will be 33 out of 100 per subject (33%).
- For an 80-mark theory paper, the minimum marks will be 27 out of 80.
- For a 70-mark theory paper (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), the minimum marks will be 24 out of 70.
- For a 30-mark practical, the minimum marks will be 10 out of 30.
- For the 20-mark internal assessment, the minimum marks will be 7 out of 20.
