How Many Registered for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Exam?

As of now, no official figures have been released regarding the number of candidates appearing for the Session 2 examination. But the data regarding the number of candidates who appeared for Session 1 of JEE Main 2026 has been released after the JEE Main Session 1 results. An NTA report reveals that approximately 13.50 lakh candidates registered for Session 1, and a record 13.05 lakh candidates actually appeared for the examination. Looking at the overall attendance of candidates who took the exam, the figure stood at 96.26%, which is a record in itself. It is important to note that students can sit for both Session 1 and Session 2 exam if they pass ‘the number of attempts allowed in JEE Main‘ criteria.

Following the path and trend of a few years, it is expected that over 1.6 million (16 lakh+) candidates have registered for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exam. With an extended deadline, the registration process concluded on March 13, 2026 which definitely increased the number of registrations.

However, based on data from 2025, a record 10.61 lakh candidates had registered, and approximately 9.92 lakh of them appeared for the exam. JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Exam Pattern

The JEE Main 2026 is mainly conducted with two sessions, i.e. session 1 (January) and session 2 (April). JEE Main April 2026 City Intimation Slip

The city intimation slip is a document allowing candidates to know their examination centre city before the release of the JEE Main Session 2 Admit Card 2026. NTA released the JEE Main 2026 session 2 city slip on its website and allowed students to download it if they are eager to know the city where the actual examination centre will be located.

It is noted that the city intimation slip is only to know the examination centre city, not for the complete examination details. Only candidates with the valid login details can download it at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The session 2 exam is scheduled to be conducted from 2 April to 8 April 2026.

JEE Main April 2026 Session 2 Admit Card Release Date

The National Testing Agency will issue the admit card for JEE Main 2026 second session 3-4 days before the commencement of the exam date. The exam will start on 2 April 2026 and end on 8 April 2026. During the examination period, close to 1.6 million students will participate. To avoid any disruption during the exam, you must download the JEE Main April Session Admit Card 2026 and also take a hard copy to carry in the exam.

Only with the valid login details, you can download your JEE Main April Session Hall Ticket 2026 from the official website. You should print out the admit card and also carry an ID proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, passport, or driving license) while appearing in the exam.
