NEET UG 2025: Weightage and Distribution for Physics Subject
The NTA (National Testing Agency) is conducting The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2025. The examination is scheduled for May 4, 2025. The duration for the examination is three hours (i.e. from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM).
As of 2023, the NEET examination consisted of optional questions. These questions were added right before and during the Covid-19 period. The optional questions that were previously included were removed from 2024. The examination consisted of only 180 questions for 720 marks.
These 180 questions are divided across three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
This proper allotment of questions will allow candidates to understand all the main subjects required for medical admission. In the NEET exam, the physics subject consists of 45 questions. Each question is worth 4 marks, which contributes to a total of 180 marks.
In the Chemistry section, there are 45 questions, with each question carrying 4 marks. This brings the total marks for the subject to 180.
Whereas, Biology subject is divided into Botany and Zoology. This section consists of 90 questions and is worth 360 marks. The total of all subjects combined sums up to 720 marks.

Physics Subject Weightage and Question Distribution for NEET UG
There are a total of 45 questions in the Physics subject. Each question is worth 4 marks. This contributes to a total of 180 marks. Approximately 70-75% of the questions in the Physics section are based on the Class 12 syllabus. The remaining 25-30% come from the Class 11 syllabus.
This allocation of weightage provides a balanced representation of topics of both years. However, the 12th syllabus is much greater and more advanced. Therefore, a greater emphasis is on the 12th syllabus.

While studying, make detailed notes for each chapter. Note down important formulas and equations. You can also use reference books to practice solving questions. (It is advisable to just use any two reliable sources).
In addition to this, solving previous years’ questions (PYQs) is also a great way to familiarize yourself with the exam pattern. This will boost skills to solve questions at a greater pace.
